Modern Slavery Statement
Man with Van Hackney Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man with Van Hackney has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking occurring within our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to safeguard human rights.
Our Business and Services
Man with Van Hackney provides transport, moving, and associated logistics services. Our activities rely on a network of workers, vehicles, and suppliers who provide goods and services such as fuel, equipment, vehicle maintenance, and temporary labour. We recognise that the logistics and transport sector can be exposed to risks of labour exploitation, particularly through third-party labour providers and extended supply chains.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, and child labour in any part of our business or supply chains. Any form of exploitation is fundamentally incompatible with our values and standards. All employees, contractors, and suppliers are required to comply with this policy as a condition of working with us. We will immediately investigate any concern raised and take appropriate corrective action, which may include terminating contracts or reporting matters to the relevant authorities.
Responsibility and Governance
Overall responsibility for our modern slavery commitments rests with the senior management of Man with Van Hackney. Management is responsible for assessing risks, approving relevant policies, and ensuring that appropriate procedures and training are in place. Supervisors and team leaders are responsible for day-to-day implementation, including monitoring labour practices, checking worker documentation where appropriate, and escalating any concerns that may indicate potential exploitation.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners. As part of our onboarding and review processes, suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws, and that they prohibit modern slavery and human trafficking within their operations and own supply chains.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence of compliance, which may include site visits, review of employment records, or completion of detailed questionnaires. For higher-risk categories of suppliers, such as labour agencies or cleaning and maintenance providers, we may carry out more frequent or targeted audits. Where issues are identified, we work with suppliers to agree corrective actions and timeframes. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we may suspend or end the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We seek to build awareness of modern slavery risks among our workforce. Relevant staff are provided with guidance on recognising signs of exploitation, such as unusual working or living conditions, withholding of identity documents, or evidence of coercion and intimidation. Managers are informed of their responsibilities to act on concerns, maintain accurate records, and support affected individuals sensitively and appropriately.
Reporting Channels and Protection
All staff, contractors, and suppliers are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery or human trafficking within our operations or supply chains. Concerns can be raised directly with a line manager or with senior management. Reports may be made in confidence and will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled as sensitively as possible.
We do not tolerate any form of retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. Individuals who believe they are being victimised for speaking up are urged to report this immediately so that appropriate action can be taken.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continuous vigilance and improvement. We are committed to regularly reviewing our policies, risk assessments, and supplier management processes to strengthen our controls. Lessons learned from audits, investigations, or staff feedback are used to refine our approach and enhance our prevention measures.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every twelve months by senior management to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with legal and best practice developments. Updates will reflect any material changes to our business structure, supply chains, or identified risk areas. By maintaining this commitment, Man with Van Hackney aims to contribute to the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and protect the rights and dignity of all workers connected to our operations.
